When your wedding day arrives, you may be so overwhelmed by so many different types of nerves and emotions—not to mention, there’s so much activity going on around you—that you forget to do a few really important things. Whether it’s remembering to eat, going to the bathroom one last time before putting on your wedding dress, or telling your vendors a few final details, it’s important to have a to-do list of key tasks written out, so you know exactly what you need to take care of on your wedding day.

Here are the six most common things brides forget to do. Make sure to add these to your wedding-day prep list!

Fill Up Your Stomach!

Eat. It may seem simple—and something that you don’t think you’d ever forget to do—but the day will get hectic, and people will be pulling you in all different directions for your hair, makeup, and photos. Be sure to have light meals and snacks around that are easy to eat fast, and readily accessible throughout the day, so you won’t forget to fill your stomach. And don’t forget about hydration!

Tip Your Vendors!

It may seem counterintuitive, since you won’t be handing out the tips until later in the night, but pre-planning tips for vendors is something you will absolutely want to do before you say “I do.” If not, when the end of the night happens, you might find yourself scrambling for cash to hand over your vendors as a thank-you for the amazing service they provided. Determine how much of a tip you’d like to give, and place the cash or check in an envelope that you can easily hand out later—and make sure to address the front of the envelope so you know who to give it to!

Shine Your Ring(s)!

You may have had a great time showing off your engagement ring over the past couple of months, but on the day of the wedding, when everyone is looking at your hand, you’ll want your ring to look pristine. Be sure to get it shined before the wedding, or have some polish on hand for the wedding day so you can get it taken care of before walking down the aisle.

Make a Getting Ready Playlist!

It’s a small detail, but a getting-ready playlist is something that will put everyone in a great mood. Your bridesmaids will be in full party mode, and having background music while everyone gets glammed up will make your girl time a whole lot more fun!

Bring Your Marriage License!

Note to yourself: Bring the marriage license. It may seem obvious, but lots of couples forget it at home. If there’s one thing to pack ahead of time, it’s this. Or else someone may be driving back to your apartment to grab it at the last minute.

Save A Slice Of Cake!

Saving a slice of your wedding cake and eating it a year later is a tradition that a lot of couples want to do. But when the night is over, you may be too excited (or too tired) to remember. Arrange for your caterer to set aside a slice (or the top tier of the cake) for you, or ask a friend to be in charge of saving a piece of the cake for you to take home.
